Good day, Joe and STOers! Real life has been a paaaaiiiiiin, but I’m hoping to get back to things soon.

Today, I wanted to restart with a fairly short but hopefully very helpful topic for the whales *COUGH* long-time grinders who like getting things for free. (…or both, really, it matters not to me!)

Some Lockbox and Promo ship releases have Choice Pack boxes, allowing you to choose which ship among the selection you’d like to pick up. For example, the Kelvin Timeline Starships Pack allows a choice of the following ships:

When those boxes get transferred to Mudd’s Market, generally (though not always) they’ll go to Mudd’s in the same way: as a Choice Pack or Bundle. For example, the same pack above is listed in Mudd’s Market as, “Kelvin Timeline Starships” (assuming you’ve bought the Mudd’s “Into Darkness and Beyond” Choice Pack/MEGA Bundle and chose this as one of your options).

Though this isn’t exactly a perfect translation (e.g.: the Discovery Starships choice pack from the Infinity Prize Pack – T6 Ship list was separated into 2 separate choices for Mudd’s Primary Faction Choice Pack/MEGA Bundle), it’s a good bet that if you see a “Starships”, “Pack,” or “Bundle” option in a Mudd Choice Pack/MEGA Bundle, it’ll give you both/all ships for that Pack.

“So let’s say I want the Kelvin Timeline Constitution. When “Into Darkness and Beyond” re-lists, how do I choose it?”

You’ll want the “Kelvin Timeline Starships” selection.

“And that lets me get just the Kelvin Constitution, or do I get all 3?”

That’s both a “yes” and a “no.”

Yes, that’ll let you get your Kelvin Constitution if that’s the only ship you desire.

No, you don’t get all 3 immediately. You need to Reclaim the “Kelvin Timeline Starships” pack to get the other D4x and T’Laru.

“So I have to buy this Choice Pack AGAIN!? That was so expensive!”

Nope! It’s free once you pick “Kelvin Timeline Starships” as one of your three choices out of the Choice Pack (or have it automatically given to you with the MEGA Bundle.).

“I…uh…Huh!?”

Okay, let me show you. Here, I’ll use the newest Choice Pack, Mudd’s “Choice of Dread – Through the Ages,” to show what you’d need to do to get, for this example, the (Universe-class) Temporal Heavy Dreadnought Cruiser, Durgath Temporal Heavy Dreadnought Battlecruiser, and Valkis Temporal Heavy Dreadnought Warbird, the 26th Century Heavy Dreadnoughts, to use on your character.

EXPLANATION

Now, for those who can’t get to YouTube or who don’t want to watch a video of just me going through UIs, here’s what you do:

1) If you just bought your Choice Pack/MEGA Bundle, go to your Inventory and open it. Make your 3 picks if you bought a Choice Pack, then hit “Accept.”

2) You’ll notice you got 1-2 “Bundles” (some may call them “Ship Pack” or similar), depending on how many of them you chose.

However (skipping ahead in the video just a tad for just the graphic), you only get 1 ship choice from the pack I chose to open, the 26th Century Heavy Dreadnought Bundle.

OH NO!…but it’s not as bad as you think.

Now I’ll catch back up with the video. 🙂

3) Open the Z-Store (or as some like me are used to hearing, the “C-Store”), navigate to “Mudd’s Market” on the side, then “Ships” on the top.

If you’ve ever bought a ship from Mudd’s Market, whether from the “Ships” tab directly (e.g.: the Benthan [Assault] Cruiser) or through a Choice Pack/MEGA Bundle, they’ll be listed here.

For our example, we want the 26th Century Dreadnought Bundle. Thankfully, it’s near the top since Cryptic’s listing order is numerical first, then alphabetical.

4) Select your desired Bundle/Ship Pack/Starships listing. Here, it’s the 26th Century ships. Then click “Claim.”

ASIDE: “But how do I tell if I’m getting one ship or all of them?”

If you’re new to Mudd Choice Packs/MEGA Bundles, you’ll notice individual ships like the Amarie-class Smuggler’s Heavy Escort, Ba’ul Sentry Vessel, and the Deimos Pilot Destroyer (from various Mudd Choice Packs I’ve acquired on my main account). Those ships use a product image of a single ship, so you’ll only ever get their specific ship.

Bundles/Ship Packs/named-but-not-Bundle-sounding listings will have all available choices in the key art, like this one for the Temporal Destroyers (3 variants) and Temporal Science Vessels (3 variants) from the Mudd’s “Stealing Time” Choice Pack.

Now, back to getting you all the ships you paid for!

5) Your inventory will now show you have another copy of the 26th Century Heavy Dreadnought Bundle. (And you likely see more 23rd Century Prototype Dreadnoughts. I was going to use that as the example because of the Dynamic Power Redistributor Module off the (Atlas) Prototype Dreadnought Cruiser, but the character I used for recording already had it active!)

6) Rinse and Repeat as often as you’d like! (But you’ll only need 3 at most: 1 for each Faction’s ship.)

7) Open one box and choose a ship. I went in order from top to bottom, so the Universe is first. Select the radio button for the Temporal Heavy Dreadnought Cruiser, then hit “Accept.”

8) You’ll notice you get a Reward Box rather than the ship straight to your roster. That’s fine. That’s how this works.

9) Rinse and Repeat, but now choose the Durgath for your 2nd pick and the Valkis for your 3rd pick.

10) Go to each box and open it (usually double-clicking, or right-click and “Open” or “Use”). (NOTE: Names were auto-generated, so if anything offensive or incorrect pops up, my apologies, but it’s Cryptic’s random naming system.)

11) Now go to a Shipyard to select and possibly Ready your desired ship!

And you’re done! That’s it! Easy-peasy! Now you can grab whatever of the gear you want off any/all these ships, set one to active (“Ready Starship”) to work on the Starship Trait (though on these 3 specifically, they’re the same Console and Starship Trait as this was released before even Romulan characters got access to most of their faction’s ships, much less Cross-Faction Flying [which comes default with this and the Primary Faction Choice Packs/MEGA Bundles, so if you’re anti-Klingon gameplay but love the ships, this Bundle has effectively $15-$20 extra value for you.]).

WHICH BUNDLES HAVE MULTI-SHIP CHOICES? YOU SAID SOME OF THESE SPLIT UP THEIR CHOICE PACKS TO BE INDIVIDUAL CHOICES, INSTEAD.

You’re correct, so here are all the Mudd Choice Packs (and MEGA Bundles from “Into Darkness and Beyond” on out) where you can use 1 selection for multiple ships.

Not all of these are totally unique ships, though.

  • The “Kelvin Timeline Starships” 3-ship selection is 3 totally different ships, with separate stats, Consoles, and Starship Traits.
  • The Discovery Flight Deck Carrier Ship Pack has 2 near-identical ship setups, but they have completely different Consoles and Starship Traits and come with Advanced Phasers (Constitution) or Advanced Disruptors (D7). Their hangar pets are also similar except for looks at types of weapons (Phaser and Disruptor for the Constitution and D7, respectively).
  • The 23rd Century Ship Pack has 2 very similar ships setup-wise (Temporal Light Cruiser and D7), while the T’liss swaps a rear weapon slot for an Experimental Weapon. Otherwise, the changes between the 3 ships are minimal, and they have the same Console and Starship Trait.

Otherwise, all multi-ship Bundles/Ship Packs’ ships share the same Console and Starship Trait, but they may have relatively minor differences in their setups due to the addition of a Cloak (Klingon ships) or Romulan Battle Cloak (Romulan ships).

NEXT UP: Value Series, then Gambling Content

Yes, you read that right! Now that the 14th Anniversary Bundle’s ships, gear, and Starship Traits are (mostly) fixed up and ready to use, I’ll be starting on 14th Anniversary Ship soon.

But first, I’ll be doing the Value Series on this new pack. It’s weird doing a tutorial blog on it before I post about the ships, value, and goodies, but timing is what it is.

Until next time, continue enjoying Star Trek Online!
