Hello, Joe and STOers! Today, I want to do a very quick post concerning a very valuable giveaway, especially if you’re a newer player.
Star Trek Online does a batch of giveaways during their Anniversary month. For ~5-7 days (recently 5, been 7 in the past), they’ll give away things like R&D Promo Packs, Ship Slots, and in the past things like Costumes.
And usually that’s meant a free Tier 5 ship from the Z-Store the past three years.
This year, though, is a bit different…
It’s a free Tier 6 ship! (Mine is greyed out as I’ve already claimed it.)
For the next 4 days (from the time of posting this), PC players can grab a T6 coupon. It’ll come in a Bound to Account box that you’d open to get to the Coupon.
The Coupon is good for any ship in the traditional “Tier 6” tabs of the Z-Store.
This means you can’t use it on anything from Mudd’s Market or Legendaries, but I mean…look at that scroll bar to the right of the ship listings. And that’s just Federation ships! (Yes, I know, most KDF and Romulan ships are just Fed ships reskinned, but they have a few unique ships, and they also tend to involve Cloaks/Battle Cloaks/Enhanced Battle Cloaks).
As long as you have the Coupon in your Inventory, T6 ships you don’t already own will show up with a price of “Coupon! 100% Off!”. (Different account I took this pic on; it’s my main, which has many more T6 ships purchased.)
Considering the ship you’re wanting to buy will be an account-wide unlock (all Z-Store ships are!), it really doesn’t matter which character claims it or uses it. The only concern may be if you lack Cross-Faction Flying and if you can buy Klingon ships on Federation characters or vice-versa if you don’t have a Level 65 Klingon KDF character, but the Account Bank has 10 free slots, just use one of them to move the box/coupon if you’re not quite there yet. 🙂
I don’t think you want to let 3,000 Zen of value (at normal price) slip by you. 😉
“But It’s Not on Console!”
Hold your horses, Console players! PlayStation and XBox platforms celebrate their Anniversary in March, the month the game launched on those platforms. Because of that, your Anniversary Event and the associated Giveaways tend to run closer to then. With Consoles expected to get the 14th Anniversary Event, new episode, and “Battle of Wolf 359” TFO on March 12th, I’d expect to see Giveaways starting around March 5th – 7th and that they’ll have the same giveaways PC had.
Ko-Fi Page Reminder
If you like what you see from “Joe and STO”, I’d ask you consider giving to my Ko-Fi page. I’m using it to help offset some (hopefully all) of the cost of an expected 14th Anniversary Bundle (expected to start being previewed in just a week or so, to be released likely mid-February). ANYWAY…now that the commercial’s over…go claim your free ship coupon! I’ll try to have something up next week on what I chose and what I’d recommend to players who are still wondering what they should grab.
